40 Days of Lent Family Devotions: Day 9

March 3, 2022

Younger Children and Early Elementary

Day 9

READ: The girl no one wanted: the story of Jacob, Rachel, and Leah from Genesis 29 -30, p.70 – 75.

ACTIVITY: God loves us just as much as he loved Leah. God has chosen to love us. Make a heart. Inside write: “God has chosen to love ______.” (Put your name in the blank.) Put the heart somewhere you can see it every day. What can you chose to praise the Lord about because he loves you?

DISCUSS with older kids: What is the world’s definition of beauty? What is God’s?

ORNAMENT IDEAS: use a princess tiara or other princess toys/symbols, your hearts made in the activity, a picture of yourself, etc.

Older Elementary

Day 9

READ: p.79-88, “Wife Swap”, “Leavin’ Laban”, “Touched by an Angel”, & “Homecoming”.

ACTIVITY: What do you think it means to be a “God-Wrestler”? Has there been a time when you wrestled with God? Write or draw about it in your journal.

ORNAMENT: Jacob held onto the stranger until he blessed him. Write a blessing and hang it on the tree. This ornament reminds us that God wants to bless us, even when we have made mistakes.
