Children & Family Ministry Summer Internship
Do you love working with kids? Planning on career that works or interacts with children? Considering a job in ministry? Then this summer internship is a great resume builder and might be a great fit for you! Children and Family Ministry is accepting Resumes for the Summer Intern position for 2026.
The Internship is for 40 hours a week from late May – mid August with compensation of $3500. We are looking for someone who loves children, is willing to teach and tell Bible stories, lead games, organize events and materials, is punctual, must be available Sunday-Thursday and occasional evenings and Fridays.

Edge Summer Internship
​Overview
The Summer Youth Ministry Intern will be responsible for ministering to 5th through 12th ​graders and their families. Interns will engage in ministry activities such as outreach, discipleship, weekly Bible study, Sunday night youth group, fun outings and activities on and off campus, special ministries, and work projects. This is a 3-month internship running from mid-May through mid-August and will work under the direct supervision of the Director of Youth Ministries.

Commitments we are seeking from an Intern

Attend and run weekly Sunday night summer youth group gatherings.

Attend weekly meetings with Youth Director/s for prayer, planning, and communication.

Lead a weekly Wednesday night Bible Study for middle school and/or high school youth.

Help at Camp Newkirk with Club 56 (weekly on Thursdays)

Organize day trips and outings for different age groups.

Be present at all youth specific events (unless otherwise discussed).

Intentionally seek out youth and build relationships with them.

Spend 5-10 hours per week meeting one-to-one with youth to foster mentoring relationships.

Attend the Sunday morning service at Huron River Methodist Church 3 out of 4 Sundays a month.

Assist with Vacation Bible School (June 15-19).

Accompany Youth Director on mission trips

Service Over Self (SOS) June 20-26

Middle School Mission July 12-13

Set a Godly example for our youth to follow in their daily lives.

Spend 2 hours a week in personal study, prayer, and fellowship with Christ.

Keep a record of weekly hours worked to ensure a good work and life balance.

Complete an evaluation of our youth ministry at the end of the summer.

Huron River Methodist Church's commitments to our Intern
Mentorship: Youth Director, Joy Hook, will meet with interns on a weekly basis for one hour. We will walk alongside each other as we seek to share Christ's love with all our 5th-12th graders. Interns will also be paired with a mentor at the church, outside of the youth ministry, to meet with and have for support, and to grow in their walk with the Lord.
Financial: This 40-hour/week internship will last 3 months, and compensation is $3,500 for the summer. Interns will be reimbursed for any ministry expenses they incur.
Opportunities: Interns will be given a variety of ministry experiences and will be introduced to resources they can use after their time at Huron River Methodist Church.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate is a college student or recent college graduate, who has a heart for youth ministry and is willing to commit to Huron River Methodist Church's summer intern program.

Desirable skills and qualities we are looking for:

High school graduate for at least one year prior to becoming an intern.

A love for God and a desire to be used by Him.

Willingness to seek a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ.

The more our relationship with Jesus grows, the more we will be able to discern His will for our lives. As we carry out His will, we will continually bring glory to Jesus Christ.

Display a Teachable Spirit.

Must be able and willing to learn new things and implement them to reach middle school and high school youth.

Ability to take direction and listen.

Ability to manage and keep self-organized.

There is a strong organizational component to this position, and you must be willing and able to stay on top of administrative responsibilities and help organize events.

A love for students and a desire to see them grow in their faith.

May seem obvious, but loving all of our youth and children and meeting them where they are at a spiritually and socially must be the starting point of any ministry we undertake.

Ability to take initiative.

God reaches youth in many different ways, and there is a way He will use you to do that. Being proactive in how we reach and pursue youth is vital.
