Edge Parents

Welcome Parents! The Edge is our ministry designed specifically for our 5th through 12th grade students! It includes a student led band, practical teaching, and guided discipleship groups (D-Groups).

We meet in our youth building "The Edge", as it's on the edge of the property.

We also have Sunday School, Mission Trips, Bible Studies, retreats and much more.

We hope you'll come in and check out The Edge, connect with friends, mentors, and, most importantly, Jesus; and carry out your faith into the world and your life when you leave high school.
Current Teaching Series - Rooted
Our current teaching series for Edge 78 and High School Edge is Rooted. This three-week journey helps students discover what it means to be grounded in Christ, to pursue Him daily, and to boldly share His love with others.

Rooted invites students to see faith as both foundational and active - not just something they believe, but something they live out in every part of their lives. Each week will focus on a key step in growing deeper in relationship with Jesus.

-
October 12: Be Rooted - Romans 8
-
Big Idea: The greatest thing about you is that you are a child of God - and nothing can take that away.
-
Question for Discussion: What helps you remember your identity in Christ when life feels uncertain or difficult?
-
-
October 19: Be in Pursuit - 1 Corinthians 9
-
Big Idea: Faith takes focus. Just like an athlete disciplines themselves for a race, we pursue Jesus by spending time with Him and learning from His Word.
-
Question for Discussion: What is one way you can "train" your faith this week - like reading Scripture, praying, or serving?
-
-
November 2: Be Bold - Matthew 5
-
Big Idea: When you know who you are in Christ, you can live boldly and let your light shine for others to see.
-
Question for Discussion: Who in your life might need to see the light of Jesus through you this week? What could that look like?
-
This series encourages students to take ownership of their faith - learning to be rooted in who they are, active in how they live, and courageous in how they share. We invite parents to join the conversation each week by using these discussion questions at home and encouraging students to reflect on what God is doing in their lives.
Permission & Health Forms
This document is required to be filled out before retreats or other events where students are leaving the church campus (SpringHill, SOS, etc.). If you are not sure if you have filled one out you can click the link below to see the list of Forms that we have on file for this year.
Sign-up for Weekly Email
Want to know what's going on at the Edge? Sign-up for our weekly email! It goes out every Thursday afternoon and includes information about what's happening at the Edge this week, upcoming events, and things to save the date for on your calendar. To sign-up, follow the link below and select the class your student(s) are in.
Sign-up for Chow Time
Chow Time is from 6:00 - 6:30 p.m. every Sunday during the school year and is an opportunity for students 5th - 12th grade to eat dinner together before or after their Edge events. Dinner is provided by volunteers each week and rotates by grade as to who is responsible. We ask for a $20 donation per student (or $60 per family for families with 4 or more children) to help cover the cost of the food.
Confirmation
Confirmation is an important tradition here at Huron River Methodist. It's a time when our 9th grade students have the opportunity to learn about the Christian faith, our beliefs and values, and what it means to be a member here.

The class meets every Sunday morning during the 10:30 a.m. service at the Edge from October - April, culminating in Confirmation Sunday. At that time students have the opportunity to become a member of the church, and be baptized if they were not previously.

There is also a class for parents of confirmands that takes place simultaneously so they can learn alongside their children. All parents of children in Confirmation are encouraged to attend.
Edge 78 Sunday School
All 7th & 8th grade students are welcome to join us for Edge 78 Sunday School during the 10:30 a.m. service. We meet in the Edge and go through the Action Bible Curriculum, the same Sunday School content as the 5th and 6th graders, but slightly alter it to better fit the learning and spiritual growth of our 7th and 8th graders.
Students are welcome to be dropped off at the Edge or walk over themselves, and they will be brought back to the atrium before service ends so parents can pick up.
