Faith in Action

What is Faith in Action?

Faith in Action’s mission is to alleviate the effects of hunger and poverty for those in the Dexter and Chelsea communities, through supportive programming including supplemental food, financial support for housing, utilities, transportation, and seasonal programs including Christmas, back-to-school backpacks, and Easter baskets.

Faith in Action uses volunteers in all aspects of programming, primarily in the clothing room and food pantry, but also as sponsors for all seasonal programming.

Why we partner with Faith in Action

This non-profit organization, community funded and faith-based, helps many of our neighbors in need in a very tangible way. Huron River Methodist is involved at many levels including food collection and meeting other needs of the organization or its clients.

Faith in Action strives to create stability for struggling families, offer a hand up and encouragement, allows people the opportunity to give back to the community and to make sure local families have enough food and a secure home.

Faith in Action uses volunteers all year long but occasionally needs volunteers for “one-off” projects like grounds upkeep, landscaping, building repairs, etc.

What you need to know

Volunteers generally need to be able to stand for most of a half-day shift, but answering phones is also an option for those who need to sit. Some lifting occurs occasionally but that is not a required ability.
