40 Days of Lent Family Devotions: Day 2

February 23, 2022

Younger Children and Early Elementary

Day 2

READ: The Story and the Song: Introduction from Psalm 19 and Hebrews 1 p 12 -17.

ACTIVITY: Take a Bible and look at it. Examine the way it is put together. It is one big book with little books inside. The most amazing thing about the Bible, it is true! It is God’s words to us so we can learn about him. What was the special part of the story, the one who the whole big Bible is about? (the baby). This baby is the most important piece of the whole story.

If you have more time: put together a puzzle as a family.

ORNAMENT IDEAS: Hang a puzzle piece on the tree to remember the most important piece of the Bible. You might want to draw a baby on the puzzle piece. You could use a real puzzle piece from the puzzle you put together, trace a puzzle piece and cut it out on card stock, for very young children use a wooden puzzle piece.

This ornament reminds us that a baby to come is the most important piece of the Bible.

Older Elementary

Day 2

READ: p. 740 (the portion based on the book of Hebrews).

ACTIVITY: Take a Bible and look at it. Examine the way it is put together. It is one big book with little books inside. The most amazing thing about the Bible, it is true! It is God’s words to us so we can learn about him. Jesus is the one the stories and people of the past looked for. Jesus is the one the whole Bible is about. Jesus is the most important piece.

ORNAMENT: Hang a puzzle piece. One from a puzzle you own, or make one. What picture should be on this puzzle piece? This ornament reminds us that Jesus is the most important piece of the Bible.
